Manufactured by the Harmony Company between 1959 and 1962, the Silvertone 1423 Electric Guitar was known as the Jupiter H49 from the Stratotone Series. Often referred to as a ''Jupiter'', this reissued solid body electric guitar has a unique blender control set-up. Each pick-up has a separate volume and tone control and there is a ''blend'' control knob which alters the balance between both pickups when the selector switch is in the middle position.
This Silvertone 1423 is fitted with a pair of prestigious Carl DeArmond/MCD Silver Foil pick-ups, created to produce a beautiful vintage tone. With a fully adjustable bridge, providing accurate intonation, and a die-cast tailpiece there's been a significant upgrade on the hardware from the original series bringing this guitar right into the 21st century.
The highly influential 1423 was originally outfitted with unique single coil lipstick pickups. However, this 1423 comes with a pair of highly regarded and prestigious MCD Silver Foil pickups for a truly beautiful sound. The large steel plates provide a bigger magnetic field that pickups up more of the string movement that is often lost with separate pole-piece pickup designs. Based on the original DeArmond design that could be found in some of the vintage Silvertone Jupiters (Silvertone 1423), the Silver Foils are a true rarity and a treasure in their own right.
This reissued guitar bucks the trend of the original by featuring a comfortable (and consistent) C-shaped neck with precise fret work. A two-way truss rod provides dependable neck adjustments to suit all playing styles.
