The Ibanez JS2450 represents a long term collaboration between guitarist Joe Satriani and Ibanez to produce guitars capable of achieving the virtuosity and musical subtlety that he requires. Satriani is well known as being one of the pioneers of the 'shred' guitar movement and needs instruments to give no boundaries to his music. He possesses a dazzling technique and can cover music ranging from intense solos to refined sensitivity, and this guitar is made to allow you to achieve the same.
The Ibanez JS2450 features Joe Satriani's signature pickups, the DiMarzio Mo' Joe™ bridge humbucker and the Satch Track™ neck single-coil sized humbucker. The Mo' Joe™ humbucker is made for tone and definition, giving great clarity and range of dynamics. The Satch Track™ neck pickup bridges the gap between classic humbucker and single-coil performance. It tracks pick attack and string vibration quickly and accurately like a single-coil, but the voicing is wider and stronger, like a humbucker. The guitar features a coil-tap, accessible via the tone control, and a treble filter inside the volume control. This wiring combination gives the JS2450 a great sensitivity to control adjustments, making it into a highly responsive instrument. The pickup and wiring combination enables a great range of tones and, like Joe Satriani, you will find a lot of versatility in this guitar.
An alder body with a maple neck gives the JS2450 a classic combination of tonewoods well known for a range of subtle tones. Usually this combination is matched with single coils but the signature DiMarzio humbucking pickups feature many similarities to single coils both in tone and response. The result is a well balanced instrument which responds very well to pick attack, playing dynamics, and control adjustments. The maple neck is combined with a bubinga strip to ensure rock solid stability and increased sustain.
The JS2450 neck features a medium-flat 9.8 inch radius and has medium frets with the Ibanez "prestige fret edge treatment". This ensures the perfect balance between comfortable chord playing and fast solos. The double cutaway body allows easy access to all 24 frets, and the slinky contours ensure a comfortable playing experience whether sat down or stood up. The special 'JS' tremolo is also featured on this guitar and provides Joe Satriani's perfect balance between feel and tone.
