The Snare

The A&F Drum Co. 14'' x 1.5'' Pancake Snare Drum features a handmade raw brass shell and raw brass hardware, offering a raw, natural finish. The snare was born when the President of A&F Drum Co., Ramy Antoun took it upon himself to recreate electronic loops with live drums, attempting to match the electronic drums' sound with acoustic drums. At the time, the snare was constructed using a brass banjo shell, fitted with drumheads and two vintage brass hoops as well as some clips and tension rods. Today, the Pancake snare is a successful part of the A&F line up of custom, handmade drums. The raw brass hardware includes high-quality hoops, 6 lugs, and claws, each contributing towards the structural integrity and strength of the shell. In addition to the hardware, handmade leather washers are used to separate the brass lugs from the brass shell, eliminating unwanted contact and allowing the snare shell to resonate properly. The snare, like all A&F drums, is built to order and handmade in the A&F Drum Co. factory/workshop in Austin, Texas.

Handcrafted in the A&F factory in Austin, Texas, A&F Drum Co. snares are available in a range of unique sizes and styles, all offering high-end quality and aesthetic to accompany A&F drum kits. All snares feature patented raw brass shells and hardware and include high-quality Remo Ambassador Heads for unprecedented response and sensitivity. The brass shells are cut, rolled, welded, sanded and treated with the patented A&F oxidising formula to kick start the patina process. The edges are all 45-degree cut, with a 3.5'' snare bed. Weighing in at anywhere from 7 to 14 pounds depending on the size, A&F Drum Co. snares provide drummers with the ultimate centrepiece to their drum kit.

About A&F Drum Co.

A&F Drum Co. (Antoun & Family Drum Company) is a boutique drum company based in Austin, Texas, formed in May of 2016. Designer and president of the company, Ramy Antoun, set about producing a raw brass snare drum to replicate sounds and looks from treasured snare drums of the past. Antoun worked together with local craftsman, Steve Furcinitti, and began following his ambition to create a truly unique, hand-crafted brass snare drum. After some time, the A&F Drum Co. Original 14'' x 4'' Raw Brass Snare Drum was born, with production limited to 100 models.

Following the great success of the snare, Antoun returned to Steve Furcinitti in hope of creating an exclusive wood drum kit to partner with it. A&F Drum Co. continues to produce high-quality products to order. Club and Field series kits feature 6-ply shells in either maple or mahogany, with curated finishes, an A&F reverse baseball outer edge and leather washers. Each drum series offers its own distinct character, tone and aesthetic due to its specific combination of materials and components.
