The Black Album

'Metallica' was the fifth studio album by American heavy-metal band Metallica – released in August 1991. This album is commonly referred to as 'The Black Album' due to it’s all-black packaging design. This album featured some of Metallica’s most successful songs, including; Enter Sandman, Sad but True, Through the Nether, and Nothing Else Matters.

In December 2019, 'Metallica' / ‘The Black Album’ became the fourth release in American history to enter the 550-week milestone on the Billboard 200. It also became the second longest-charting traditional title in history, and the second to spend 550 weeks on the album charts. In 2020, this album was ranked number 235 on the ‘Rolling Stones 500 Greatest Albums of All Time’ list.

About Lars Ulrich

Lars Ulrich became famous through the formation of his band, Metallica. Ulrich's drumming style has changed throughout his career. During the 1980s he was known for his fast, aggressive thrash beats however he has since been considerably influential due to both the popularity of his band, as well as his drum techniques. His highly-demanding styles require equipment which he can depend upon, which inspired the birth of the Lars Ulrich Limited Edition Snare. With an overwhelming peak volume that cuts straight through any sounds produced by other instruments in the band, Lars Ulrich has been using this snare for the past decade.
