The Superstar Classic features 100 percent maple shells, offering a rich, warm tonal character with brilliant mid and high frequencies. Constructed with tone in mind, the shells focus intently on shell moulding and the bearing edge shape - providing an incredible ringing sustain and powerful projection.
This kit carries some of the classic features from the original Superstar series, such as the classic Tama T-shape badge and the streamlined low-mass lugs that feature a simple 70's style design. The shells are mounted using Tama's Star-Mount system, ensuring that the wood can project fully and resonate freely, preventing any muffling or muting.

The Tama Superstar Classic shell pack features 6-ply, 5mm shells on the rack toms, floor toms, and the snare drum, whilst the bass drum features a thicker 8-ply, 7mm shell for a fatter, heavier tone. The heavy thud from the thicker bass drum sits perfectly with the warmth of the rest of the kit.
Maple, when compared to other popular tonewoods used in drum constructed, is a softwood with a less dense grain pattern. This allows for higher frequencies, increased warmth and incredibly powerful projection. The shells are finished in a striking coffee fade.
Tama's Star-Mount system offers optimal resonance
The Star-Mount system provides support at four different points on the batter side hoop of the drum - ensuring optimal resonance for your drums. The bracket bolts slide from left to right, making it far easier to position your rack toms closer together without them making contact.
Exceptionally durable chrome hardware
The Superstar Classic shell pack is fitted with ultra-durable chrome hardware, including claw hooks, tom holders, and low-mass lugs.
The claw hooks stabilize the wood hoops on the bass drum and feature a built-in rubber lining to protect the wood and maintain tuning at all times - providing exceptional durability.
The TAMA L-Rod and Omnisphere tom holder systems have received acclaim from drummers for over 25 years. These systems offer easy positioning, maximum flexibility, stability and greater sound than standard designs which penetrate the shell interior and can inhibit resonance.
Each drum in this shell pack are fitted with low-mass lugs. These small lugs are newly designed separate lugs for the Superstar Classic series. By reducing the surface area that the lugs occupy on the shell, a structure that does not hinder shell resonance is achieved.
