Silverstar shells are constructed from carefully selected birch wood and crafted using the same moulding methods as high-end Tama drums. By creating the drums with this method, players can achieve a powerful sound with rich tones and a warm resonance.
Tama's star-mount system increases drum resonance and provides support at four points on the batter side hoop of a drum. The bracket eye-bolts slide to the left and right, so it's possible to prevent the eye-bolts from touching each other even when setting up two toms close to each other.
Each of the Silverstar drums are fitted with Tama’s sound arc hoops, which are based on the ''stick slave hoops'' that were used on vintage snare drums. All the edges of the sound arc hoops bend inwards, enhancing the drums natural tones whilst offering increased sensitivity, precision, and control. The drums also feature Tama’s specially designed separate lugs that are low in mass, reducing the surface are that the lugs occupy. With a smaller design, the lugs offer a structure that doesn’t hinder the shells resonance, resulting in a cleaner sound.
To hold the rack tom in place, the Silverstar kit features Tama’s MTH900BN tom holder that allows the drum to be moved backwards or forwards. By simply loosening a square-headed bolt, the rack tom can be moved up to 50mm to any position, allowing you to set up the drum to your specifications.
The claw hooks stabilise the wooden bass drum hoops, keeping them in place no matter how hard you play. The claws feature a built-in rubber lining which help protect the wood and maintain tuning even during long performances. The rubber spaces also help protect the claw hooks and tension bolts from damage when the bass drum is placed on the ground.
With up to 40 years within the drum industry, Tama has developed a unique brand that prioritises both great tonal quality and outstanding aesthetics.
