The Player Series Precision Bass features a lightweight alder body to produce balanced, resonant tones with plenty of clarity and midrange bite, ideal for the versatile musician. The alder tonewood provides a decent amount of sustain, creating bright, sizzling highs, beautifully rounded lows, and a beefy midrange. Fender have used alder as their tonewood of choice since the 1950s, as the balanced response and slight upper middle definition makes it perfect for rock and blues playing.
The addition of a maple neck provides the overall tone with a bright characteristic, tightening up the sound and giving it plenty of cut. The maple delivers a powerfully sharp punch when the strings are hit hard, whilst still retaining its clarity to allow each note to sing. The pau ferro fingerboard offers the same fundamental tones as a rosewood fingerboard, 'furring' up the maple's harsh edges for a sparkling, sizzling high-end and thick, firm low-end. The modern ''C'' profile is designed for an incredibly comfortable playing experience, allowing the hand to fully cup the neck and deliver a smooth performance.
The Precision Bass is equipped with a range of high-quality components, delivering a professional grade performance to players on a budget. Its single player series split-coil pickup is infused with the soul of Fender, offering all the classic tones associated with many musical legends. master volume and tone controls provide excellent tone shaping capabilities, allowing players to dial in the perfect sound for their playing style. The addition of a synthetic bone nut increases the overall resonance and brightness of the tone, while its standard open-gear tuners and bridge improves tuning stability and adds to this Fender P Bass’ classic aesthetic.
Debuted in late 1951, the Precision Bass guitar was not only Fender's first bass guitar, it was the world's first bass guitar and a new kind of instrument. The Precision Bass (often shortened to P-Bass), has spent well over half a century at the very heart of music everywhere. With its two-horned solid body and fretted neck, the Precision Bass profoundly revolutionised music. Reigning ever since as a must-have instrument, this elegantly simple and enormously powerful instrument is the worldwide standard for bass tonality, performance, reliability and overall excellence.
