Featuring six independently controllable drum voices, the LXR-02 takes a step towards synthesis instead of traditional drum machines. Optimised for creating specific kit pieces, everything from deep and powerful kick drums, snappy snares, resonant toms, piercing cymbals and other percussion is possible. Whether you're after tried and true sounds of the past or looking to carve a new and creative take on drum synthesis, the LXR-02 is a sonic laboratory for complete experimentation.
It would be unfair to call the LXR-02 a drum machine as it goes far beyond the traditional sequencing of static samples. Hosting a deep set of modulators, the LXR-02 allows you to experiment with sound design to degrees you might not have done previously with your drum samples. Each voice features an envelope generator, allowing you to tailor the response of each drum sound to your mix. Parameters to adjust the attack and decay allow you to lengthen the time of the sample for slower songs with more space between hits or tighten them up for faster songs. Further response shaping is afforded through the included transient generator. This transient generator lets you add a layer of transient samples via a 'click', helping to increase the attack in your signal for added attack and punch.
Not only that, LXR-02 Drum Synthesizer supplies a wide range of internal modulation via the onboard LFO per voice. Routable to several destinations including pitch, filter frequency, resonance, drive and much more, you can enjoy evolving soundscapes that move with your music. In combination with the 64-step, Erica Synths LXR-02 allows you to automate parameter changes to continuously evolve your sound design with each step in your sequence.
Not only is the LXR-02 a studio essential, but it's also ready to take your sound to the stage as well. Designed to be performance-oriented throughout, most functions are only a single button press away and placed on the face of the unit, avoiding the need for any deep menu diving or steep learning curves. Volume faders for each voice are complemented with a button for each of the six-voice layers, allowing you to perform in overdubs whilst your 64-step sequence lays down your beat. Offering more flexible live shows, the LXR-02 Drum Synthesizer also includes performance modes that provide you with manual triggers for different articulations such as rolls and mutes as well as the ability to dynamically morph between customised kit presets.
Not short on ways to manipulate your sounds, the LXR-02 also features a robust FX section to transform your sounds. Ideal for the studio engineer, the onboard effects traverse everything from more traditional drives and compressors to add character and tone to your sound, but also to the experimental ring modulation and delay effects. Helping to make your sounds stand out from the crowd and offer something different than tired cut and paste electronic drum sounds, you can beef up kick and snare drums using the built-in overdrive sounds. With three different modes including tube saturation, wavefolder and hard-clip distortion, you can shave off harsh transients and add harmonic saturation to cut through dense mixes. Outside of the norm, using the onboard ring modulation for your snare drums can be the ingredient you need to add otherwordly rhythmic textures in your groove. Used extensively in Dub-style music, a delay on your kick drum can help to add polyrhythms that fill out the gaps in your steady tempo or can be sent into new territories when pushed to the maximum of 700ms. The onboard delay also features an LFO that follows the pitch of your track, creating flanger-style effects that are perfect for transitions between sections to build and release tension.
Any electrical items in your order may have been designed to work with a 240V circuit, using a United Kingdom G type plug connection or a 220V circuit, using an EU plug connection. An adapter or transformer may be required for these items to work properly and safely in your country. Some items work with a range of voltages, or have a switchable voltage control built in.
