This ESP Stephen Carpenter Electric Guitar is loaded with a pair of Fishman Fluence SRC Signature Pickups in the middle and bridge position. This pickup set is active and each pickup features two distinct voices that can be selected via the push/pull volume control. Voice 1 produces a pure and clean tone, with plenty of aggression and crunch, while voice 2 provides a full-sounding, hot tone with edge that is ideal for heavy metal styles. For the middle alnico pickup, players can push down for 'Modern Active' tone or pull for 'Modern Passive Attack' for a wider tonal range.
Alder is favoured by most players for its incredibly balanced tone, offering the perfect dynamic range to suit most musical styles. Its bright, sizzling highs, rounded lows, and beefy midrange sets up the foundation of the guitar's overall tone, allowing players to achieve the perfect sounds for their own style.
The ESP Stef B-8 features a 3-piece maple neck which is sturdy, strong and more resistant to warping than classic 1 piece necks. Its extra-thin U-shaped profile is perfect for quick shredding, and the neck-through construction provides an advanced sustain and resonance. Maple offers a bright and clear tone with sweet sustain, while the ebony fingerboard brings snappy attack and exceptional clarity to the overall tone. With the addition of two extra strings, this 8 string guitar offers an extended range for more sonic possibilities.
Stephen Carpenter is the guitarist in alternative metal band Deftones. The band are said to be one of the most experimental and innovative groups within alternative metal. Stephen often plays with 6, 7 and 8 string guitars for ultimate shredding and versatility. He has developed a distinct playing style and has helped design ESP guitars since the 90's.
