Joe Bonamassa is a living-legend who combines his absolute command of the guitar in the blues genre with his encyclopaedic knowledge of vintage instruments. He rehearses and tours constantly and has a monumental collection of priceless vintage instruments to play. He has collaborated with Epiphone guitars for many years to bring some of those fine vintage characteristics back to the modern market, and the Amos Flying V is the latest in his series.
This guitar is based on Joe's priceless 1958 Gibson Flying V and is one of the most cherished instruments in his collection. It was originally bought by the Amos Music Store in Indianapolis, USA, and is one of only 91 V-shapes produced that year. It includes a certificate of authenticity with a custom hard-case to keep it safe and increase its collectors appeal.
The"Amos" Korina Flying-V is constructed from korina for authentic vintage tone and aesthetic. It features a comfortable C neck profile measured from his original guitar with a FSC-Certified blackwood fingerboard for resonance and note attack. The headstock is fashioned in the classic V style and features Epiphone's raised logo.
This guitar includes a 12'' radius neck with 22 medium jumbo frets and a 24.75'' scale, enabling easy bends and vibrato. The truss rod is adjustable and accessible via a gold plated ''Amos Arthur'' engraved cover. The V body shape enables easy fingerboard access and ensures a comfortable playing experience. This will provide a smooth playing feel that is perfect for a range of blues styles.
Part of the appeal of vintage instruments is the use of older electronics and pickups. This instrument features ProBucker pickups which are based on the original "PAF" design found in the late 50s Gibson Les Pauls and 335s. They use the same components and materials to guarantee a vintage response with wide range of tones, from mellow cleans through to biting leads. The quality electronics in this guitar are from CTS and Switchcraft with vintage styled black "Top-Hat" knobs. They allow great variation in pickup output providing a highly responsive playing feel, allowing the style of playing like Bonamassa's whereby he uses the volume/tone controls extensively to shape his sound.
The Ltd. Ed. 1958 "Amos" Korina Flying-V comes with period-correct gold hardware including a 1958-style ''V'' metal plate tailpiece along with a LockTone ABR-1 Tune-o-matic bridge. A late 50s period correct hard case is included along with a Certificate of Authenticity hand-signed by Joe Bonamassa in a presentation binder. Not only will this guitar play and sound amazing, it will have real collector value and bring you a vintage experience to cherish for years to come.
