The single vintage split coil pickup offers a deep thump with a tight low midrange. Heard on thousands of recordings throughout the 1960s, 1970s by James Jamerson, Jaco Pastorius, and Sting this ‘50s P-bass recaptures the tone that made the Precision so popular.
A nitro lacquer over an alder body – it looks and feels every bit classic. Coming out of Mexico, this is the first guitar from there using a nitrocellulose finish, a vintage touch normally only reserved for the American Vintage and Custom Shop models. It was something that has been requested for so many years and Fender have actually done something about it.
It’s really nice to see the gold anodised scratch plate that was an original feature, overlaying the nitro gloss makes it look like it came out of a time capsule.
A period correct one-piece maple neck is acoustically more resonant, many people believing it gives a richer more rounded tone.
Other touches like the reverse open-gear tuners and the vintage style four saddle bridge add to the authenticity combing not only this quintessential vintage aesthetic but helps give that unmistakable P-bass tone.
