The FSR 70s Jazz Bass features a solid ash wood body, delivering a classic Fender twang with sweet, airy tones. The lightweight ash provides the guitar with excellent resonance and sustain, offering firm lows, pleasing highs, and a scooped midrange. The bass is finished off with original-era 1970s Jazz bass styling, featuring a host of vintage inspired components from its vintage-style bridge, 3-ply black pickguard, and chrome hardware.
The bass’ ash body is paired with a thick 70s ‘’C’’ maple neck, which offers incredible comfort and speed ideal for versatile playing styles. The thick ‘’C’’ shape is designed with more substantial shoulders than most other profiles, providing a natural feel ideal for chords and single notes. The maple tonewood provides the Fender with a beautifully bright characteristic, tightening up the overall tones and delivering plenty of cut and bite. Using maple for both the neck and fingerboard provides players with a sharp, clear punch when the strings are hit hard, while light to medium picking brings out the subtler tones of the maple.
A pair of vintage single-coil Jazz Bass pickups provide the Fender Special Run Bass with a warm, vintage tone inspired by the iconic tones of the 70s. The pickups are designed with alnico magnets to offer the classic low-end flavour and midrange scoop. Players can benefit from a full host of classic warm tones, with plenty of midrange thump, and a rich bottom end. Independent volume and master tone controls allow players to dial in a variety of tonal options, creating an incredibly versatile bass suitable for a variety of musical styles.
Featuring a carefully fitted synthetic bone nut, the Fender FSR Jazz Bass delivers an increased resonance and bright tonality. When compared to traditional plastic and Tusq guitar nuts, synthetic bone improves the vibration transfer between the string and tuning machines without dampening the tone.
Introduced in 1960, Fender welcomed a new decade by debuting a deluxe bass guitar, the Jazz Bass. Sleek and supercharged with dual pickups, a slim neck and a curvaceous offset waist, the Jazz Bass has ruled the world of electric bass ever since Fender first introduced it. The versatile and unmistakable tone, effortless feel and performance make the Jazz Bass the number-one choice for professional bassists worldwide.
