The 355 is drenched in history – a lineage that goes back more than six decades. From being the very first semi hollow instrument, Gibson have refined themselves over all these years and produced something that will sadly only be available in limited numbers. From originally solving the simple problem of electric archtop guitars abhorrent microphonic feedback, the 355 has become an icon not only in the hands of Jazz and Blues legends but of contemporary Rock and Punk bands – Its exactly this kind of diversity that allows a history of this length to exist for an instrument.
Articulate, clear, warm, and responsive. The MHS humbuckers are a perfect pairing, allowing the guitar to sing for you when you decide you don’t want to. Matched to the original PAFs of the ‘50s, expect true vintage tones to emanate out of your amplifier. The lower output of MHS humbucker means you can drive your amplifier a little harder, allowing your power tubes to run hotter allowing richer and more complex harmonic overtones.
Ted McCarty from Gibson decided, very cleverly to add a centre block, making feedback controllable.
