Key Features
The Gibson LPJ (Les Paul Junior) Les Paul electric guitar is a great-value first step into Gibson guitars. It features all the details you expect in a Les Paul - classic tonewoods, innovative hardware, two humbucking pickups and Gibson's build quality and playability - but in a stripped-down package with simpler aesthetics and a worn-look Hand-Rubbed Transparent White finish that keeps the cost down.
Product Ref: 31924
The LPJ starts from the revered Les Paul cornerstones of tone, a mahogany back with a two-piece carved maple top. This pairing gives a tonal depth and complexity unmatched by any single-wood construction, with warmth and richness from the mahogany and superb clarity and "snap" from the maple. The back is strategically weight-relieved to improve comfort and enhance resonance.
The neck of the guitar is made from hard-wearing maple, carved to Gibson's popular rounded '50s profile and glued into the body. The genuine rosewood fingerboard features 22 medium-jumbo frets and traditional trapezoid inlays, with no binding to clutter the stripped-down look.
When you plug into your amp, you'll be glad of the pair of Gibson Modern Classics™ humbucking pickups. The 490R in the neck position is made with an Alnico II magnet and standard-wound coils, for warmth and clarity, while the 498T in the bridge position has overwound coils and an Alnico V magnet for more punch and sizzle. Separate volume and tone controls for each pickup plus a three-way toggle selector give a broad range of sonic variations, while the Tune-o-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece ensure solid sustain and outstanding intonation.
"For anyone who has ever lusted after the 'real thing' but been forced to settle, this is a big deal. It's a great sounding guitar for the money - a real US Gibson with classic Les Paul tones" - 4/5 Stars, MusicRadar
