The Gibson Les Paul Standard electric guitar has been updated for 2013 and is the most versatile version ever created. The new asymmetrical SlimTaper neck fits the hand like a glove, while the Burstbucker Pro pickups are stealth-wired for individual coil-splitting, phase reversal and Pure Bypass switching without spoiling the look of the layout. Finished in Heritage Cherry Sunburst high-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer.

The 2013 Les Paul Standard is founded on the same traditional tonewoods that helped make the guitar legendary when it first arrived six decades ago. The solid Grade-AA Figured Maple top and solid Mahogany back give a blend of richness, depth, punch and clarity unmatched by any single-wood guitar. The back is also treated with Gibson's new modern weight relief pattern to increase comfort and resonance.
The neck of the guitar is made from solid, quarter-sawn Mahogany, carved in a new asymmetrical SlimTaper™ profile and glued-in. The bound Rosewood fingerboard has 22 medium-jumbo frets and traditional trapezoid inlays, and has a superbly playable compound radius.
The pair of BurstBucker Pro™ pickups are based on the PAF humbuckers of the late '50s but are updated with potted coils for howl-free performance and four-conductor wiring that allows for incredible versatility. Each volume control has push-pull switching to split the coils for single-coil tones with hum-cancelling performance in the middle position. The neck pickup's tone control gives reverse-phase tones, while the one for the bridge offers Gibson's new Pure Bypass setting for instant lead tones.
