Iconic Body

The Les Paul Traditional’s body woods feature that legendary Les Paul combination of good clarity, definition and treble bite from the AAA Flamed maple, and excellent depth and richness from the mahogany. This is one of the most revered wood combinations of all time, and truly offers a best of both worlds design in the way that mahogany and maple complement each other to offer superior resonance, sustain, depth, clarity, and definition.

The AAA flamed maple top creates the effect of tiger stripes, which are extremely recognisable throughout the Antique Burst finish, and adds extra prestige to the overall appearance of this guitar. In addition the use of the traditional cream binding breaks up the colour block and gives the guitar a defined edge.

Rounded Neck For a Smooth Play

The neck of the new 2017 Les Paul Traditional is constructed from one solid piece of quarter-sawn, lightweight mahogany, and offers an improved strength and resonance. This Lightweight neck is carved to a comfortably rounded neck profile, which has been a popular choice since the 50s. Additionally, with Gibson's acclaimed glued-in neck joint you can achieve an outstanding tone and sustain. The mahogany neck is topped with a classic rosewood fingerboard, which is decorated with stylish traditional inlays that reflect this iconic guitars original look.

Burstbucker 2 & 3+ Pickups

First introduced in the early 1990s, the Gibson Burstbuckers successfully captured the subtle variations of true, classic humbucker tone with historically unmatched bobbin windings and Alnico II magnets. They produce an airy, full tone, and when overdriven they achieve a magical distortion with the slightly enhanced highs that made the originals famous. The new 2017 Les Paul is equipped with types 2 and 3. Burstbucker 2 features medium output, while Burstbucker 3+ is overwound and hot, and perfect for the bridge position. Unlike other types of pickups, none of these Burstbuckers are wax potted, and all feature vintage braided two-conductor wiring. Control options for these burstbuckers include independent Volume and Tone control for each pickup, which also include a coil tap function for a range of tonal possibilities. In addition, the Les Paul Traditional HP also features the classic three-way toggle switch, adding to its iconic appearance.

G Force Auto-Tuning

The new 2017 Les Paul Traditional HP also features the G force self tuning system, which is an innovative system worked by a mechanical device that is secured to the headstock. Each machine head contains a small servo motor that can wind the string up or down. Simply push the on button and strum to see this device in action and perfectly tune your guitar. The new Gibson HP models all feature an updated G Force system, with even smoother and more silent gears.

Not only does the G force tuning system provide standard tunings, it also offers alternate and custom tunings, tuning to instruments that are in tune with themselves but not to concert pitch, adding pitch offsets to individual strings, and tuning with a capo. Powered by a rechargeable battery, the G force system provides up to 100 tunings on one single charge, and also allows for manual tuning.

Titanium Zero-Fret Adjustable Nut

The Gibson Les Paul Traditional HP Electric Guitar is also equipped with an innovative Nut. The Zero-Fret Adjustable Nut is a superior nut design in Gibson’s High-Performance series of guitars, due to its exceptional adjustability to match various playing styles. Its all-titanium construction offers extreme durability, and a retaining screw which helps the nut stays in place when you change strings. Like with bridge adjustments, the Zero-Fret Nut allows you to adjust the height and angle, for the optimum feel.

Aluminium Tune-O-Matic Bridge

The Gibson Les Paul Traditional HP Electric Guitar is also equipped with an aluminium Tune-O-Matic (TOM) bridge, offering enhanced stability, reliability, a comfortable playing position and an impressive sustain. This innovative TOM bridge is easy to adjust, as you simply adjust the height of the bridge with the mounting rods to alter the action, and screw the bridge saddles in or out to achieve perfect intonation.

In addition, every Tune-O-Matic bridge that Gibson feature on their high performance models is combined with a separate "stopbar" tailpiece, which is essentially designed to further enhance the connection between the strings and the body.
