Remaining the cornerstone of SG Guitars, the SG body is crafted from solid mahogany in a lightweight, offset double-cutaway style. Featuring the distinctive 'horns' that make the SG a true icon, and bevelled edges for playing comfort. A style once rejected by Les Paul, the SG is one of the most-loved and played Electric Guitars around today.

A solid mahogany neck is glued to the body and carved to a comfortable and fast slim SG neck profile, topped off with a headstock with abalone Gibson logo design.

The warm, rich and responsive tone from Rosewood makes it the perfect fingerboard material. Offering clear and tight bass projection without overshadowing sparkling midrange or trebles, the 22 medium-jumbo frets are adorned with trapezoid inlays.

The Heritage Cherry finish gives the SG Original a sharp appearance, bringing the SGs of the past up to date. The nitrocellulose lacquer produces a finish that breathes with the guitar and enhances natural resonance, encouraging a purer tone.

Taking its firepower from a pair of '57 Classic Humbuckers, the SG Original has reknowned playability. The timeless humbuckers give you a warm tone that's subtle with a full, even response - but gives you that classic Gibson humbucker crunch at your command.

Traditional wiring of an independent volume and tone control per pickup plus a three-way pickup selector provide a broad range of sonic variations. Add to the mix a classic Tune-O-Matic bridge and Lyre tailpiece and a set of vintage-style tuners and you have a set of hardware that partners up for solid sustain, precision tuning and spare none of the tone.
