The Ibanez AM53 comes from the Artcore series of guitars; a range of hollow instruments designed to span the genres from early jazz through to blues and rock. The AM53 features a classic semi-hollow design which was originally produced to provide the tonal benefits of a hollow body guitar, but with the feedback-resistance and sustain of a solid body. Here you have a guitar which can cover a wide range of styles and offer you a comfortable playing experience.
The Ibanez AM53 features a semi-hollow body crafted from bright-sounding sapele. This creates a bright and open tone, with plenty of sustain and resonance. The mahogany neck complements the body with warmth and sustain, whilst the rosewood fingerboard adds to the final articulation of each note. This is a lively instrument which will respond very well to playing dynamics.
The AM53 is coated in a flat, satin-like finish, which has the effect of feeling very tactile and soft in the hands whilst assisting with sustain and resonance as it doesn't coat the tonewoods as much as traditional lacquer does. When combined with the semi-hollow design, the result is a guitar which feels 'alive' in your hands. Elsewhere, the double cutaway ensures easy high fret access for soloing and high chords, whilst the modern 12" radius and 24.7" scale length allows for easier string bends and vibrato making this is an ideal instrument for wailing blues solos.
The AM53 Artcore includes Infinity R pickups which feature a warm, balanced articulation and excellent response. With the 3-way coil selector and the volume/tone control setup, you'll find the versatility to be able to tackle many different genres, as this style of guitar has done in the past. Blues, rock, country, soul; whatever your style, you'll find some lovely usable tones in the AM53.
