The Ibanez KIKO10P signature electric guitar is the result of the collaboration between Ibanez and Brazil's most internationally recognised guitarist, Kiko Loureiro. It takes a stunning Ibanez S guitar as its base and adds in many clever design touches to match up to Kiko's varied style of playing. DiMarzio original pickups feature alongside body contouring and coil-tapping to provide another unique high-end guitar in the Ibanez signature range.
Kiko has a virtuosic technique and he has made many thoughtful design choices to aid in his playing on the KIKO10P guitar. The deeper cut lower horn of the guitar body helps top fret access by providing much easier positioning for your left hand. Elsewhere, Kiko has specified recessed control knobs which offer a more refined feel for volume and tone changes. The jack socket is also altered to hold guitar cables more securely: this should give you a lot more confidence that your cable won't pop out when playing on stage. Ibanez's Edge Tremolo is featured on this guitar and provides an excellent ability to return to pitch, even after extreme use.
The KIKO10P features an alder body with a flamed maple top. This classic combination gives wonderfully subtle shades of tone and makes for a versatile combination. The neck of this guitar is a 5-piece design of maple and walnut for strength, stability and resonance. Kiko specified these woods to complement his pickups which are specially designed by DiMarzio. They have a medium output to be able to achieve high gain sounds as well as the more refined Brazilian music that Kiko is known for exploring. Despite the rock aesthetic, this guitar is a surprisingly versatile instrument.
The KIKO10P features a 5-way selector switch which gives various pickup combinations to achieve all manner of different tones. The volume pot also acts as a coil tap switch and, when activated, it enables the humbuckers to be used as single coils. In total this guitar has 7 unique pickup combinations and should ensure that you can tailor your tone to either distorted or clean sounds.
Over the past 30 years, Ibanez Guitars have always been at the forefront of developing the right tools for electric guitar players pushing the boundaries of music. For decades, Ibanez designers and luthiers have been the embodiment of this ideology, pushing their skills to the edge of imagination, consistently creating some of the most versatile and unique instruments ever. Although Ibanez guitars have been made since 1908, it wasn't until the late 1980s that they began to form an identity for themselves when artists such as Steve Vai and Frank Zappa began using their instruments. Now with a huge artist clientele across the globe, Ibanez are a leading manufacturer of electric guitars and basses and a first choice for many dedicated musicians.
