The SR5000’s body features a sandwich of wenge and mahogany, finished with natural oil to show off the layered effect and the wood’s grain to create a truly captivating aesthetic. The mahogany tonewood provides a strong and resonant tone, while the wenge outer layers offer extra brightness, attack, and clear overtones. As well as appearance, the Ibanez also features a twin horn body shape which allows easier access to the higher frets for incredible flexibility across the whole fingerboard.
As well as a comfortable body shape, the Ibanez Premium Bass features an atlas 5-piece wenge and bubinga neck, offering superb tonal clarity and superior note attack. Like many basses from Ibanez, this stunning model features a wenge fingerboard to provide a warm, soft tone with a natural feel. This classic fingerboard is also decorated with mother of pearl and abalone oval inlays for added elegance, and each fret also features their premium fret edge treatment for a smooth and comfortable performance. The addition of KTS titanium rods ensures the neck can take harsh punishment, providing an iron-like strength built for stage life.
This Prestige Ibanez Bass is equipped with a set of USA-made Bartolini custom pickups, which are both voiced differently to maximise the tonal range of the bridge and neck positions. These handmade pickups have been designed exclusively for Ibanez, offering a beautifully bright bride position tone and an incredibly deep, warm neck position sound. Both pickups feature a dual coil design, and ensures players receive the widest tonal sweep form the blend control.
One of the most unique features of this 4-string bass guitar is the 3-band EQ, featuring an EQ bypass switch to shape and craft the tone of your guitar with maximum control. With controls over treble, mid, and bass, the 3-band EQ lets you to mould every nuance of your sound to find the perfect tone for your playing. The bypass switch flicks between the original and affected tone, letting you experiment and create a range of tonal possibilities.
In addition to 3-band EQ, the SR5000 also features a mid-frequency select switch, letting you instantly switch between 250Hz, 450Hz, and 700Hz, the heart of the mid zone, to create a more dynamic and ideal tone when needed.
This Prestige Bass features a stylish Mono-rail V bridge, adding to the beautiful aesthetic of the bass while improving string stability and sustain. This innovative design offers a wide intonation adjustment range, and each independent saddle provides a maximum string vibration transfer without any interference.
Unlike other basses from Ibanez, the SR5000 Bass features a black Tusq nut from Graph Tech. Tusq is impregnated with PTFE, a slippery substance that reduces the binding grip the nut has on the strings, transferring the strings vibrations efficiently to the guitar. Players can achieve a balanced tone with increased harmonics, along with clear highs and open lows.
