Billy Corgan was the founding front man of Smashing Pumpkins and has maintained a long running career of live performances, despite line-up changes and re-formation. They deliver a unique blend of diverse, densely layered, and guitar-heavy sound, with all sorts of experimental music in thee later years. When Corgan decided he needed a signature guitar he paired with Yamaha to deliver him an instrument capable of performing his diverse artistic style.
The LJBC is based on the LJ small jumbo guitars; a widely regarded instrument size for its ability to deliver the depth and nuance of a jumbo but with more comfortable proportions deigned for stage use. Corgan's guitar features a solid engelmann spruce top with rosewood back and sides to offer a warm and nuanced tonality. The top is treated with Yamaha's special 'Acoustic Resonance Enhancement' and designed to mimic the way an older guitar sounds and feels when it has been 'played-in'. This gives you the sound and feel of a guitar that has been allowed to gracefully mature, delivering complex and well-rounded sounds. Billy's signature touch of brass saddle pins enhance the resonance and warm tonality of this guitar, while the 'zero' logo provides a final signature flourish.
Besides the comfortable proportions of the medium jumbo body, this guitar features a matt finished neck to deliver a slick playing feel for the left hand. The traditional neck profile provides an effortless grip and the rosewood fingerboard gives a smooth feel for left hand fingering.
The Corgan Signature features a passive pickup system so that no battery is required when you are using this guitar amplified. This makes it an incredibly easy to use guitar in live situations, only requiring a cable and an amplifier. A Tusq nut and saddle, along with Gotoh open gear tuners, guarantees tuning stability along with increased resonance.
