Every guitarist who uses a tune-o-matic bridge will have encounted the bridge/tailpiece falling off due to lack of stability when the strings are removed, but the locking tune-o-matic bridge and tailpiece clips and locks into place without the use of tools to eliminate this problem, and also increases sustain by up to 20 percent.
