The Telecaster features a semi-hollow ash wood body, delivering a classic Fender twang with sweet, airy tones. The semi-hollow designed enhances the Tele’s natural resonance, creating a big sound with plenty of depth while the lightweight ash provides an excellent resonance and sustain. The Ash tonewood is known for its firm lows, pleasing highs, and scooped midrange, making it perfect for a wide range of playing styles.
Designed for fast playing and effortless position changes, the compound profile neck is perfect for all playing styles. With a modern ''C'' shape at the nut, the profile then transitions along the length of the neck to a modern ''D'' shaped profile at the neck heel, providing plenty of support and ensuring comfortable playing sessions. Maple is used for both the neck and fingerboard, resulting in a bright characteristic with sizzling highs, firm lows, and a snappy midrange attack.
The American Elite is equipped with 4th Generation Noiseless single-coil pickups, which represent a quantum leap in pickup design, combining vintage and modern construction. These pickups deliver vintage-style tones and an effectively noise-free performance. Offering pristine cleans and fat, overdriven tones, the Fender Noiseless pickups scream with pure rock 'n' roll power. The American Elite is also equipped with a special S-1 Switch, which is located on the volume pot, allowing players to switch between series and parallel wiring for more tonal options.
The guitar's enhanced elite suspension bridge features a unique design, with three intonatable brass saddles that have been engineered specifically for the Thinline Telecaster. A screwless mount is added to the bridge to increase the amount of vibration transfer, driving the top for a nearly endless sustain and a lively response. The improved locking, short-post tuning machines deliver an increased break angle at the nut, offering a buzz-free performance for cleaner tones.
Featuring a carefully fitted synthetic bone nut, the Thinline Telecaster delivers an increased resonance and bright tonality. When compared to traditional plastic and Tusq materials used to construct guitar nuts, synthetic bone improves the vibration transfer between the string and tuning machines without dampening the tone.
The American Elite series of instruments are delivered in an elite moulded case, featuring body-hugging contours which holds the guitar firmly in place. TSA latches are also included for enhanced security and easy access. This durable case also features a stacking ability, for easy storage and transport.
The rich history of Fender guitars begins with the Telecaster. An indispensable instrument, the Telecaster was the world's first successful solid-body electric guitar. Perfected after two years of development - and a name change or two - the Telecaster debuted in February 1951 and began its steady ascent towards the stage and studio. Ingeniously engineered with the ability to be heard both loud and clear, it was a marvel of simple design elegance and workhorse functionality. It is perhaps a fitting testimony to its essential original rightness that the Telecaster design has hardly changed ever since.
