The American Original Series, is the latest from Fender. Unlike previous series of guitar and basses that focus on specific years, the American Original lineup focuses on decades, providing the modern player with a full host of vintage-inspired designs from yesteryear. Each instrument features a modern fingerboard radius, along with original Fender style and tone.
With an iconic, Precision bass body, players can benefit from the two asymmetrical cutaways, which not only provide a pleasing aesthetic appeal, but promote the access to the upper fingerboard. Furthermore, its body is slim, sleek, and contoured to ensure long practice sessions and live performances are as comfortable as possible. The American Original P-Bass also features a Gloss Nitrocellulose Lacquer finish which not only enables the wood breathe naturally, but will age in a distinctively appealing manner.
Like many other guitars from Fender, the American Original '60s P Bass features a lightweight, alder body, producing a resonant and balanced tone with plenty of clarity. Alder provides a decent amount of sustain, creating bright, sizzling highs, excellently rounded lows, and beefy mids. Fender have used alder as their tonewood of choice since the 1950s, as the balanced response and slight upper middle definition makes it perfect for rock and blues playing, as well as being lightweight for all sized players
Just like the original 1960's Precision Bass, this new American Original model features a ''1963 C'' neck profile, offering comfort to the left hand. In addition, vintage-tall frets and vintage clay dot inlays are also included to complete the traditional look, while a round-laminated rosewood fingerboard provides a rich, warmth to the overall tone.
The Fender '60s P Bass is equipped with a Pure Vintage ‘63 Split Single-Coil Precision Bass Pickup, constructed with accurate authenticity to produce a classic, vintage sound. This pickup is manufactured with enamel-coated coil wire, cloth-covered output wires, fiber bobbins and alnico 5 magnets, producing that same iconic punch that helped to shape modern music.
