The Fender American Original comes equipped with two Pure Vintage '64 Telecaster pickups, which have been constructed to deliver warm vintage-style tones that projects the sonically pleasing nostalgia of the 60s. These powerfully vintage pickups were designed and constructed to be as period-correct as possible from the enamel-coated coil wire to the cloth-covered output wires, fibre bobbins and alnico 5 magnets. The enamel-coated magnet wire delivers warm vintage-style tones, its alnico 5 magnets add more focus and enhanced dynamics, whilst the copper shielding plate on the bridge pickup produces a more lively tone. In addition, the staggered pole-pieces balance volume and output over string. Players are certain to benefit from these vintage-accurate pickups which offer a strong Tele twang that's crystal clear and versatile enough to deliver sweet sounds that made the 60s decade so iconic.
With a highly recognisable and iconic Telecaster body, players can appreciate and benefit from its cutaway profile, which not only acts as an aesthetic appeal, but promotes the access to the upper fingerboard. The Telecaster's body is flat with wide shoulders which offer superb durability, perfect for those touring guitarists needing an incredibly reliable instrument with Fender's signature style and tone. Furthermore, the iconic Telecaster body is constructed from alder, which is lightweight, offering comfort and delivering a resonant, well-balanced tone with a bright attack. In addition, the Fender American Original features an ashtray bridge, where the strings go through the back of the guitar, offering incredibly stable strings while improving sustain and adding resonance.
The American Original's neck is constructed from maple, which adds a bright attack with great sustain to the overall sound. The Fender American Original '60s Tele features a mid 60s C shaped neck profile, which enables players to have a comfortable grip. Its 60s styled neck is well-suited to numerous styles of play, whilst its 9.5'' fingerboard radius enhances playability. In addition, the American Original features a rosewood fingerboard that adds a smoother note to the Tele's clear and articulate voice. The rosewood fingerboard also adds a sonically pleasing warmth and offers a smooth and energetic playing experience.
The rich history of Fender guitars begins with the Telecaster. An indispensable instrument, the Telecaster was the world's first successful solid-body electric guitar. Perfected after two years of development - and a name change or two - the Telecaster debuted in February 1951 and began its steady ascent towards the stage and studio. Ingeniously engineered with the ability to be heard both loud and clear, it was a marvel of simple design elegance and workhorse functionality. It is perhaps fitting testimony to its essential original rightness that the Telecaster design has hardly changed ever since.
