The 70s Jazz Bass features a classic design instantly recognisable as Fender, was first introduced in 1960 and been popular ever since. Players can benefit from a comfortable performance with its stylish cutaway design, offering easy access to the higher frets and improving playability.
The American Original Jazz Bass features a solid ash wood body, delivering a classic Fender twang with sweet, airy tones. The lightweight ash provides the guitar with excellent resonance and sustain, offering firm lows, pleasing highs, and a scooped midrange. The bass is finished off with original-era 1970s Jazz bass styling, featuring a host of vintage inspired components from its Pure Vintage bridge, 3-ply white pickguard, and nickel/chrome hardware.
The American Original Jazz Bass features a sleek 70’s ‘’U’’ shaped neck profile and a 9.5’’ radius fingerboard, providing an incredibly smooth playing experience which helped inspire new playing techniques and create beautiful expression. The maple neck infuses the Fender Jazz Bass with a beautifully bright characteristic, tightening up the overall tones and delivering plenty of cut and bite. Using maple for both the neck and fingerboard provides players with a sharp, clear punch when the strings are hit hard, while light to medium picking brings out the subtler tones of the maple.
The American Original ‘70s Jazz Bass is equipped with a set of Pure Vintage ’75 Single-Coils, which deliver a growling midrange and slight treble bite which helped create the musical world of funk and disco. These powerful pickups are designed to be as period-correct as possible, featuring a vintage construction, enamel-coated wire, cloth-covered output wires, fibre bobbins, and classic alnico 5 magnets. While its enamel-coated magnet wire provides a warm, vintage-like tone, the alnico 5 magnets infuse the Pure Vintage pickups with an incredibly focused and dynamic performance. Players are certain to benefit from these period-accurate pickups, offering the deep, growling tones and articulate punch of the legendary bass that helped make the 70s decade so iconic.
Along with its amazing tone and looks, the Fender Jazz Bass also features a bone nut which adds to its classic aesthetic. The main purpose of using a bone nut, compared to modern materials, is the bone offers excellent resonance and sustain. A bone nut also delivers a very balanced tone, and will last a long time. In addition, this type of nut naturally self-lubricates and helps the guitar to stay in tune for longer.
Introduced in 1960, Fender welcomed a new decade by debuting a deluxe bass guitar, the Jazz Bass. Sleek and supercharged with dual pickups, a slim neck and a curvaceous offset waist, the Jazz Bass has ruled the world of electric bass ever since Fender first introduced it. The versatile and unmistakable tone, effortless feel and performance make the Jazz Bass the number-one choice for professional bassists worldwide.
