Unlike other models from the classic series, this Classic 60s Jazz Bass features a beautifully smooth nitrocellulose lacquer. This finish is considered one of the greatest original-era Fender finishes, with its thin, porous, and delicate coating allowing the tonewoods to breath with their natural tonal character. Its also known to wear and age in a certain way that appeal's to many players.
The 60s Jazz Bass features a classic design instantly recognisable as Fender, and was first introduced in 1960 and been popular ever since. The classic alder body provides players with a resonant and balanced tone with plenty of clarity and body. Fender has used alder as their tonewood of choice for guitars since the 1950s, as the balanced response and slight upper middle definition makes it perfect for rock and blues playing. Players can benefit from a comfortable performance with its stylish cutaway design, offering easier access to the higher frets and improving playability.
Like many bass guitars from Fender, the Classic Jazz Bass features the popular C-Shaped profile to deliver an incredibly comfortable playing experience. This type of neck profile leaves a small pocket of space between the palm of the player's hand and the neck of the bass guitar, allowing more versatility along the fingerboard. It also provides a comfortable playing style enabling you to play for longer. The maple neck is coupled with a pau ferro fingerboard, enhancing the bass with a beautiful bright, warm character and creating a speaking high end, thick low end, and an open midrange punch.
A pair of standard vintage single-coil Jazz Bass pickups provide the Fender with a warm, vintage tone inspired by the iconic Motown tones of the 60s. The pickups are designed with alnico magnets to offer the classic low-end flavour and midrange scoop. Players can benefit from a full host of classic warm tones, with plenty of midrange thump, and a rich bottom end. Independent volume and master tone controls allow players to dial in a variety of tonal options, creating an incredibly versatile bass suitable for a variety of musical styles.
Featuring a carefully fitted synthetic bone nut, the Fender Jazz Bass delivers an increased resonance and bright tonality. When compared to traditional plastic and Tusq materials used to construct guitar nuts, synthetic bone improves the vibration transfer between the string and tuning machines without dampening the tone.
Introduced in 1960, Fender welcomed a new decade by debuting a deluxe bass guitar, the Jazz Bass. Sleek and supercharged with dual pickups, a slim neck and a curvaceous offset waist, the Jazz Bass has ruled the world of electric bass ever since Fender first introduced it. The versatile and unmistakable tone, effortless feel and performance make the Jazz Bass the number-one choice for professional bassists worldwide.
