The Gretsch G6620TFM features a smaller 16” double-cutaway body, along with a chambered spruce center block, delivering a more organic tone with a comfortable lighter weight. Crafted with laminated maple and featuring classic F sound holes, the Gretsch G6620TFM produces crisp overtones with plenty of resonance.
As well as offering a comfortable body shape, the Gretsch G6620TFM also features a standard “U”-shaped maple neck which bears a 12”-radius for the ultimate comfort. This particular type of neck profile is also ideal for players with bigger hands, or players who are more comfortable with their thumb on the back or side of the neck. In addition, an ebony fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets delivers a memorable playing experience that works with any fret-hand style. An ebony fingerboard is also included and is the perfect platform for percussive techniques such as tapping.
The Gretsch G6620TFM is equipped with two high sensitive Filter'Tron humbucking pickups, located in the bridge and neck position. These deliver a pristine high end, glassy midrange , robust low end and balanced harmonics for tone that blends seamlessly with other instruments. Along with offering this superb tone, these type of pickups also filter out undesirable hum, neon noises, crackle and electrical disturbance that is commonly associated with single-coil pickups. Controlling these pickups is easy with the "G"-Arrow control knobs, that offer independent volume, and a master tone, as well as a 3-position toggle switch for tonal variations.
The G6620TFM is equipped with an Adjusto-Matic bridge, delivering a great tone and precise intonation with its six individually adjustable string saddles. When used with a Bigsby vibrato tailpiece, the bridge slightly "rocks" with the movement of the strings- reducing friction and adding tuning stability.
Featured on many Gretsch guitars, the Bigsby vibrato tailpiece allows guitarists to add excellent tremolo and pitch-bending effects to single notes or full chords while keeping the guitar perfectly in tune during a performance.
