Back in 2010, the ''Ashula'' was an innovative limited bass released by Ibanez, combining a fretted and fretless into one hybrid model. Now, Ibanez has upgraded this original model with the second generation SRAS7 7 String bass. Unlike the previous version, the SRAS7 now features three strings on the fretless section, enhancing octave playing and offering more versatility for the modern player.
The Ibanez SRAS7 is elegantly crafted with a mahogany body along with a stunning poplar burl and ash top, delivering stunning tones with plenty of depth and dynamics. Finished in an eye-catching dragon eye burst, the Bass Workshop Instrument will give any performance a boost in stage presence. As well as visual aesthetics, the SRAS7 offers comfortable contours and a single cutaway design, allowing full access of the whole fingerboard with ease.
The SRAS7 features a 7-piece maple, purpleheart, and walnut neck, fixed with five bolts, offering a beautiful blend of tonal qualities while offering an incredibly stable performance. Constructed the neck from 7-pieces of wood also enhances the transmission of string vibration to the body, providing an improved sustain and precise intonation. The double-fingerboard adds to the SRAS7's distinctive appearance, featuring a 22-medium fret jatoba section and a fretless purpleheart section. With this unique set up, chords can be played across both sections of the fingerboard, with a smooth and seamless transition between the two sections for a versatile sound that will stand out on any stage. The fingerboards feature a 950mm radius, allowing easy chord playing o the fretted part while the fretless section offers smooth soloing. In addition, The SRAS7 Bass comes equipped with a detachable finger rest, offering two options for thumb placement to ensure players receive a truly comfortable performance.
The fretted part is equipped with SRAS Super J pickups, which are specially designed for this hybrid model. With these pickups, players can achieve a bright and rich dynamic tone with plenty of clarity to suit a variety of musical genres. The fretless part is equipped by an Aerosilk Piezo system, providing the acoustic and wooden sounds associated with upright basses. With various tonal possibilities provided by the three-way pickup switch, including magnetic, piezo or a mix of both, the SRAS7 will inspire any player's musical creativity and curiosity.
In addition to these hybrid capabilities, the Ibanez SRAS7 Bass features a Mono-rail V bridge, adding to its beautiful aesthetic while improving string stability and sustain. This innovative design offers a wide intonation adjustment range, and each independent saddle provides a maximum string vibration transfer without any interference.
Over the past 30 years, Ibanez have always been at the forefront of developing the right tools for players pushing the boundaries of music. The preferred instruments of many awe-inspiring bass players, amongst them Fieldy from Korn, Paul Gray from Slipknot and Peter Iwers of In Flames, Ibanez Basses continue to be the first stop for learners and professionals alike, no matter what musical genre they exist in.
