Key Features
Yamaha's authentic sounds and natural touch make the ARIUS YDP-141 an absolute joy to play. Perfect for new students and experienced players alike, the YDP-141 provides true acoustic piano tones and feel in a compact and light body.
Product Ref: 16952
This simple yet stylish ARIUS offers all the benefits of a digital piano whilst being designed by Yamaha to closely simulate the experience of playing a grander acoustic. The lightest in its class, the YDP-141 weighs just 37kg making it easy to move around when making minor alterations to a room. It is also compact, being just 422mm in depth, allowing easy placement even in small spaces. It is available in two colour variations - Light Cherry and Dark Rosewood.
Authentic Acoustic Piano Feel
Yamaha have made use of their grand piano-making know-how to achieve a digital piano keyboard that offers a natural acoustic playing feel. The YDP-141's keys demonstrate slight differences in touch, with the low sound regions of the grand piano being heavy to the touch, while the high sound regions become steadily lighter. Select the hard, medium or soft setting to match your playing style or finger strength. Alternatively, turn off sensitivity for a fixed response setting, ideal when playing the organ voice.
Yamaha also focuses on the expressive power of pedalling. Three stable pedals are mounted, including the damper, the soft pedal, and sostenuto. The damper pedal offers a half-pedal response and can handle micro-adjustments of its strength giving you nuanced expressive control over the sustained sound. With stability and endurance in response to any kind of performance, it offers the security and quality expected of Yamaha keyboards. The matte-finish black keys also contribute to the high-quality feel and luxurious appearance.
Realistic and Rich Yamaha Tones
The ARIUS YDP-141's piano sound is sampled from the Yamaha Full Concert Grand Piano "CFIIIS", which has won high acclaim at the world's most famous concert halls and music competitions. The very top piano was selected, and an experienced tuner adjusted it to top condition. Sampling is carefully performed over a long period, from the sound start until fadeout, to reproduce a natural sound and attenuation that feels nothing like an electronic piano. In addition, Yamaha focus on the change in timbre due to the strength or weakness of the key strike that is so characteristic of acoustic pianos. Sound sampling covered more than 10 stages of key strike strength for each keyboard.
The YDP-141 uses AWM Dynamic Stereo Sampling to produce sounds that most closely express the piano characteristics, obtained through rigorous recording. The Yamaha development team spent a lot of time together with pianists in thorough pursuit of the optimum touch and timbre combination which resulted in the achievement of natural sound changes that sound like a person is actually playing a grand piano, no matter how the keyboard is played. In addition to the electric piano, organ, harpsichord, and other keyboard instruments, it offers a varied sound timbre for string and other instrument performance.
Some more conventional digital pianos can quickly run out of notes during fast, dense, legato passages - sustained notes are cut off as the instrument "steals" notes to make room for new notes. The maximum simultaneous tones on the YDP-141 is 64 enabling full enjoyment of rich sounds. Based on Yamaha's own technology, there is no unnatural sound cut-off even when the pedal is pressed and sounds overlaid, so a performance with full presence can be achieved, no matter what song is played.
Perfect For Practice
With 50 deeply familiar songs built in and a music book included with the piano, the ARIUS YDP-141 is perfect for practice sessions. Use the songs in lessons by adjusting to a slower tempo, or erasing one hand in the music to facilitate practice on that hand. Alternatively simply enjoy them as background music.
This Yamaha can also record playing performances or your original musical ideas. Since it can handle 2-track recording, it can record model performances, or record performances on one-hand at a time, letting you enjoy piano duets all by yourself! For example, you could record yourself playing the left-hand part on one track and the right-hand part on another. This is a great way to learn how to play a difficult piece, one hand at a time. You could also record a string part on one track and a piano part on the other, an easy way to hear song and arrangement ideas. Best of all, you can change tempo or voices even after you've recorded your performance. Using MusicSoft Downloader and a compatible USB MIDI interface you can transfer your user song to a personal computer for backup, printing with a scoring program or further editing using a MIDI sequencing program.
The ARIUS YDP-141 is an electronic piano with no need for tuning so it is effectively maintenance-free. It is fitted with two headphone terminals to enable practice without worry about sound volume. There is also a metronome function for keeping time along with other small conveniences. If you don't have headphones you can still practice at home effectively and quietly. The Yamaha volume control knob allows for particularly detailed adjustment at low volume levels. Naturally, the sound volume can be raised up high for more impressive piano performances.
Expand And Create
Added extras include the option to use the Yamaha free software "Music Software Downloader" (Music Software Downloader is compatible with Windows only) to enable transfer of music data on the PC (MIDI data) to the instrument's built-in memory in order to expand music enjoyment.
