Expanding on the design of its predecessor, the Nord Piano 5 now features two independent piano engines and two sample synth engines. Each of the section feature two layers which can be configured to be split or layered when playing. The onboard memory has also been expanded, doubling the storage space for both the sample and piano libraries. The Piano Section now includes 9 Grands, 9 Uprights, 10 Enhanced Electric Pianos, Clavinet, Digital Pianos, Marimba, Vibraphone and many more, meticulously recreated in digital formats using Nord's advanced sampling technology.
The Sample Synth section has been fully revamped with two new independent sample synths complete with a range of new sounds. Basing its design on a brand new format, with two layers with in-depth controls including attack, decay/release and the ability to tweak the dynamic velocity response. You can also change the style and tone of a sound using the newly introduced Bright and Soft timbre settings.

This innovative custom tech from Nord simulates the hammer-action of a grand piano, providing unparalleled authenticity and fluid playability. The result is a natural and dynamic response delivering exceptional expressive capabilities. The Triple Sensor Keybed provides high-end precision when it comes to key movements, resulting in a natural and dynamic keyboard action with tight control.
Take your performances to the next level with the introduction of Unison and Tru-Vibrato. Building on the newly implemented sample format, Unison allows you to combine multiple sample voices for powerful ensemble sounds. Instruments are now more accurately modelled than ever before thanks to “Tru-Vibrato”. The powerful new engine allows for the keyboard to replicate the unique vibrato nuances of each individual instrument including wind, brass and strings. You can now also play synth sounds in monophonic mode with legato.
Demonstrating the power of the dual engines, Nord has included a rich range of new sounds including a selection of samples from ProjectSAM. Samples included from the Symphobia and Swing! libraries will drive your inspiration and expand your sound palette. You can even create custom sampled instruments via the Nord Sample Editor (available for free!).
Not only that but there is a wide variety of new instruments including solo wind, brass, guitars and even classic analog and digital synth sounds such as powerful electronic basses.
One of the most prominent upgrades to the Nord Piano 5 is the outstanding new performance features. When changing sounds or programs while playing, the Nord Piano 5 ensures seamless transitions, allowing you to switch between sounds without a noticeable change between programs. You can now also combine two sound sections in a layer or split over the keyboard. There are 7 split points in total, as well as new Split Point Crossfade abilities for smoother transitions between the split zones.
The effects section of the Piano 5 boasts a wide range of premium-grade FX which you can combine and adjust to suit your requirements. They include high-end stereo effects modelled after vintage stomp boxes and can be assigned to either the piano or sample synth section. The effects includes: Tremolo, Phaser, Chorus, Pan, Wah, RM, Flanger, Vibe, EQ, Delay (now with NEW ping pong mode) and Reverb with a new Bright Mode.
