The Shure SM89 offers a smooth frequency response that allows it to capture a range of static and moving sound sources clearly. It features extremely low hum, noise and RF pickup, which results in cleaner recordings. The SM89 also features a slight presence rise that optimises the high-frequency response to compensate for any high-frequency losses, providing clarity and speech intelligibility. Additionally, the low-frequency roll-off can be used to minimise any wind pickup, mechanical vibration, ambient noise and low rumble without affecting voice frequencies. With a frequency response of 60Hz to 20000Hz, the SM89 microphone is ideal for capturing a range of sound sources.

The SM89 is ideal for location filming both indoors and outdoors. It can operate over a wide range of temperatures and humidity, making it perfect for capturing sound in every part of the world. Capture Moving Sources

The off-axis response of the SM89 is virtually free of comb-filter effects. This is important for when it is not possible to aim the microphone precisely or when it is desirable to pick up dialogue or sound from moving sources.
