The Marantz PMD-706 Recorder for DSLR is a powerful audio recording unit designed for use with DSLR cameras. This versatile recording unit can be used with a range of DSLR cameras, and features built-in mounting equipment for a range of cameras. The PMD-706 utilises premium-grade microphone preamps to achieve the 24-bit/96kHz audio fidelity it produces. This ensures you capture every nuance from your source material, making it ideal for film, TV and post-production applications. The 6-channel configuration is comprised of four XLR/TRS combo jack for Mic and Line level inputs, as well as dual TRS ¼-inch jacks for Line level input. Additionally, the unit features integrated 48V Phantom Power for use with professional condenser microphones.

Dual-Recording Mode & Performance Controls

One of the most unique and useful tools the Marantz PMD-706 includes is the dual-recording feature. This allows you to capture record audio to two files simultaneously, with one file running at a slightly lower level. This ensures you get the best possible take every time. The dual recording feature is handy for challenging weather and demanding situations such as interviews and more. As well as the dual-recording mode, the PMD-706 also boasts a number of performance-enhancing features. A 5-position low-cut filter and limited function is included for processing your takes and helping to eliminate unwanted background rumble. There is also M/S microphone decoding for processing multiple microphones and stereo fields at once. You can achieve up to 3 safety tracks at once when using the dual-recording mode, ensuring you get the best take constantly.

Design & Connectivity

The compact and lightweight construction of the PMD-706 means it is easy to transport and setup. The portable design will easily fit in most backpacks and some larger laptop bags for easy transportation. As well as the XLR and TRS connections, a 3.5mm stereo jack with plug-in power is included for professional, consumer-based microphones. It also features a convenient DSLR camera mounting bracket, allowing you to attach the recorder directly to your camera. The recorder comes complete with a SD card, micro-USB cable and (2) XLRF-1/4" TRS Cables. Additionally, the recorder includes a tripod socket on the bottom of the recorder for even more mounting options.
