What about the hardware? The Dunnett R7 Throw-off features an adjustable lever with a quick-release mechanism. This throw-off is small and lightweight, allowing for quick timbre changes during performances. The Fat Cat Dual Adjustable snare wires deliver a sensitive, yet professional sound that us serious drummers crave. The 8 lug S-Hoop counter hoop has the power to deliver substantial rim shots that sit perfectly in the mix. These are fitted with Tight Screw tension rods which ensure accurate and reliable tuning.

A winning combination. The Ahead 14" x 6" Oak/Maple Snare Drum features traditional wood, with a modern design. A 5.4mm oak and maple shell creates a warm, versatile tone with enhanced low frequencies. The 5.4mm shell thickness allows the shell to vibrate freely, emphasising and projecting that chunky bass response.
Oak is renowned for its soft highs, accurate mid-range and warm low tones. It features an incredibly solid, durable wood grain that produces enhanced low frequencies - adding bags of presence to your performances. But thankfully it's not all bark - there's certainly plenty of bite. It provides an all-purpose tone with a fairly quick decay, with incredibly warm tonal qualities and a full-bodied presence when tuned high.
Maple is widely used for its versatility and powerful tone. It contains boosted lows with high frequencies to make it work in almost any drumming style. Maple shells offer a more even sound and a warmer, more resonant tone. This kind of tone works great with a wide range of music. Maple also has excellent aesthetic qualities. Shells crafted from maple wood tend to have a pristine and polished look, which looks stunning with any finish.
