Finding the right size double bass is crucial for comfortable playing. The best way to measure is to find either the overall height of the performer or to gauge approximate size of the instrument by the age of the player.
Unusually, the most common size of double bass is the 3/4 size. Full size double basses are most likely used by orchestral players for extra volume and depth to the sound.
