The DW Design Series snare is constructed from 10-ply North American maple, arranged in DW's proprietary HVX grain orientation. This provides an incredibly warm and present tone with a low-mid punch and plenty of crisp articulation. With incredible versatility, the DW Drums Design Series Snare blasts through the mix in any style and in any setting with an impeccable response.
The DW Design Series Snare Drum is fitted with true-pitch tuning screws with fine threads to allow you to find the perfect tuning for your desired sound. Additionally, a MAG throw-off drops the snares instantly without causing any unwanted buzzing sound - this allows you to quickly change timbre during a performance.

The DW Design Series 14 x 5.5'' Snare Drum features a 10-ply North American HVX maple shell to provide rapid responses and incredibly warm tones that sit perfectly in any mix, in any style. The HVX design provides a more full tone with a deepened tone for powerful backbeats and piercing accentuation.
In the drumming world, maple is renowned for providing the most controlled tone – with even highs and mids, and a warm low end.
DW hardware
DW Design Drums are custom-inspired, with double threaded centre lugs, new badge, logo head and a hand-sprayed specialty lacquer finish. They're designed to get noticed for all the right reasons. Easy to tune, superior sounding HVX shells, combined with DW heads by Remo USA, all-new MAG throw-off and DW 45 degree back-cut bearing edges, make the Performance Series ideal for touring professionals.
3mm Chrome Standard Triple Flange Hoops give these drums a versatile sound that suits all types of players from jazz and funk to rock and hip hop. However, the inclusion of DW's sought-after True Pitch tuning rods took the Performance Series Snare's range through the roof. The rods feature 5mm threads rather than the 12/24 that's standard on most other drums. To compare, there is 1 thread every 0.8mm on their True Pitch rods (about 20 more threads), versus 1 thread every 1.05mm on most other drums. The result is a more exacting tuning process.
MAG throw-off
The all-new MAG has a purposefully simple design with a chrome finish. The MAG throw-off features a horizontal tension adjustment and a smooth easy-adjust action. A clever magnet is integrated into the body of the throw-off which prevents the throw-off from releasing if you accidentally knock it. When the throw-off is released, it throws the strainer completely off the head to avoid any strainer buzz.
Remo heads
DW Design Series drums come standard with a set of heads made specially for DW by Remo USA. Snare drums come with our Coated Control Sound batter heads (with tuning sequence numbering) and Clear snare side resonant heads.
