Maple Shells

Tama Superstar HyperDrive shells are manufactured from carefully selected Maple, with a focus on shell moulding and the bearing edge shape. This attention to detail and superior construction ensures that the shells produce a full and powerful character that cuts through with definition and rich resonance. All floor toms, rack toms and snare drums feature a 6ply (5mm) shell while the bass drum boasts a 8ply (7mm) shell.

Star-Cast Mounting

All Superstar rack toms are equipped with a Star-Cast Mounting System that's similar to Starclassic drums. This unqiue and innovative system offers total tom isolation while provides maximum resonance and stability in a streamlined design that also ensures greater playability and comfort.

Die-Cast Hoops

Superstar kits are equipped with the same zinc die-cast hoops that are featured on the professional Starclassic drums. The die-cast design not only makes tuning easier and more consistent, it also produces a crisp attack with clear and resonant highs, and incredibly powerful rim shots.

Sound Bridge High-Tension Lugs

The Sound Bridge high-tension, low-mass lug was specifically designed for Superstar drums. The unqiue structure looks similar to a traditional high-tension lug, but the body of the lug ''floats'' over the shell to minimize shell contact to allow the drum to resonant freely. Additionally, Sound Bridge still offers all of the benefits of a traditional high-tension lug too; it offsets the tension of the batter side and bottom side heads, reduces the stress on the shell, and provides greater protection to the drum shell during transport.

Tama Claw Hooks

These claw hooks stabilize the wood hoops on the 22'' bass drum, and feature a built-in rubber lining which helps to protect the wood shell and maintain tuning even during long performances.

Power Craft II Heads

All of the Superstar's ''Power Craft II'' drum heads are designed to produce incredible sound right out of the box. The bass drum heads also feature ring mufflers which removes the need for additional internal muffling.
