Featuring a semi-hollow maple body, the Shire produces an extremely bright and precise tone with a crisp, detailed high-end. The maple tonewood complements the warm, resonant nature of the hollow design, creating an incredibly powerful tonal characteristic. Since maple is quite a dense wood, it does not absorb many high frequencies which results in a tight tone. The arched design of the maple top not only looks stylish, but offer extra comfort when playing.
Loaded with two DMT Design humbucking pickups in the bridge and neck position, the Shire Semi-Hollow Body delivers a powerful and punchy tone with plenty of low end rumble and high end sparkle. Perfect for a range of playing styles and music genres, the DMT Design humbuckers particularly excel when used for hard rock and screaming lead licks.
Additionally, the Dean Semi-Hollow Guitar incorporates a legendary piezo pickup under the bridge saddle to provide maximum tonal versatility. Unlike the sound of the DMT humbuckers, the piezo pickup transducers create an acoustic tone by picking up the wood vibration as well as the string vibration. Perfect for a softer and more acoustic sound, the Piezo Saddle Pickup redefines the tonal possibilities of the semi hollow body design.
The guitar is equipped with two volume controls to adjust the outputs of the humbuckers and piezo pickup, along with a master tone control for dialling in the perfect sound. A set of pickup selectors allows players to switch between the different configurations of the two humbuckers and the piezo pickup, providing a wide range of tonal possibilities.
