One of the first models introduced by Dean in 1977 were the Z's. Like their counterpart, the Dean ML series, they were designed with the ultimate tone, sustain, and playability in mind. These models have dramatic string angles at the bridge and nut, and a string thru body design featuring the original V plate. The added string length created by the exclusive headstock coupled with the original Dean neck design is how the Z achieves its incredible ease of play. Still offered in their original configuration, the Z series has withstood the test of time.
Loaded with two DMT Design humbucking pickups in the bridge and neck position, the Dean ZX delivers a powerful and punchy tone with plenty of low end rumble and high-end sparkle. Perfect for a range of playing styles and music genres, the DMT Design humbuckers particularly excel when used for hard rock and screaming lead licks.
By incorporating a string-thru body construction, the ZX features an improved tonality and sustain. This is achieved by transferring vibrations and resonance from the string to the body as they go over the tune-o-matic bridge and passes through the body.
A mainstay on stages the world over, you too can become a part of Dean's distinctive heritage that boasts some of rock and metal's most famous names like, Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, and Doug Scarrat of Saxon. Not to mention Tom Maxwell of HellYeah (Mudvayne), Eric Peterson of Testament, and Michael Amott of Arch Enemy. Lest we forget Dean's most famous user of all time, potentially one of modern metal's greatest icons, the late great Dimebag Darrell Abbot.
Established in 1976 in Illinois by Dean Zelinsky, the Dean Guitar Company fast became the "go to" manufacturer for hard wearing distinctive guitars. Now synonymous with the rock and metal genres, Dean Guitars have always maintained their position at the forefront of guitar design and technological advancement in the manufacture of quality instruments designed specifically for louder players.
