The Original Series Mystique’s body is crafted from mahogany and features a flamed maple top finished in a stunning tea sunburst, enhancing the guitar's natural brightness and creating a unique aesthetic. The mahogany tonewood delivers a soft tone, with plenty of grind and bite to keep it well-balanced and create plenty of depth. The guitar’s appealing high end and full, tight low end ensures the overall tonality remains thick and firm, offering plenty of dynamics to accommodate a variety of musical styles.
Featuring a mahogany neck to deliver a warm sonic punch, the ESP Guitar’s overall sound is open and mellow, creating a beautifully appealing tone with excellent articulation. Its thin U-shaped profile is perfect for speed demons, allowing players to easily reach across the entire fingerboard without losing any comfort. The addition of a rosewood fingerboard enhances the mahogany’s natural warmth, creating a beautifully mellow tone with the perfect amount of presence in the lower mids. The mahogany and rosewood combination provides the ESP Original with complex highs, thick, creamy lows, and a punchy midrange.
The Mystique CTM features a set of Seymour Duncan pickups to deliver a beautiful blend of hot tones and vintage characteristics. Set in the bridge position is the Seymour Duncan JB, a truly modern classic pickup known for its incredible hot-rodded design which makes it ideal for any music genre. Its hot output pushes amps for extra sustain and harmonics, creating a tone saturated in full, powerful lows, crisp, detailed highs, and an upper mid bump which adds crunch and chunk to heavy chords. The Alnico II Pro neck pickup features a special vintage output coil winds and an alnico 2 bar magnet to create warm, sweet tones saturated in a smooth, full character and plenty of natural sustain. The humbucker’s thick, singing high end, warm, buttery low-end, and soft treble attack are ideal for blues and rock.
Incorporating TonePro’s innovative locking tune-o-matic bridge and a Gotoh tailpiece, the Original Series Mystique eliminates the problem every guitarist who uses a tune-o-matic bridge will have encountered, the lack of stability when the strings are removed. This problem usually causes the bridge to fall off and minor unwanted adjustments to the bridge height to be made. However, the locking tune-o-matic bridge makes that a thing of the past, with high tension springs fitted into the attachments to allow the bridge to clip and lock into place without the use of tools, increasing sustain by up to 20 percent.
The Original Series ESP is finished off with a range of high-end components to ensure players receive the best playing experience possible. The Gotoh locking tuners improve tuning stability while reducing string slippage, delivering a truly quick and easy way to tune. Their locking design allows players to ''lock'' their tuning in place, ensuring the guitar remains in-tune no matter the intensity of the performance. The addition of Schaller straplocks protects the guitar against accidental strap release, ensuring players can deliver a powerful performance without the worry of dropping their guitar.
