Crafted with mahogany back and sides, and topped with solid spruce, the Epiphone Texan Electro-Acoustic Guitar delivers an array of sonically pleasing tones to suit different playing styles. Mahogany provides a rich, sonic warmth, with plenty of resonance and it offers thick, meaty mids; deep, woody lows; and good amounts of bite. The mahogany combined with the spruce top, extends the mahogany's tonal range to enhance the overall sound with bright, tight and expressive characteristics.
This Epiphone guitar features a 1960s SlimTaper profile mahogany neck, paired with a rosewood fingerboard to deliver warm and articulate tones. The mahogany responds well to an array of playing styles, and offers a beautiful sonic richness. The rosewood brings sweetness to the tone; smoothing it out and softly furring it up. The maple and rosewood combination creates a sparkling, sizzling high-end, an open midrange with a snappy attack, and a thick, firm low-end. Finished with shimmering, pearloid parallelogram inlays, the 'Inspired By 1964' Texan Guitar offers an elegant appearance and quality playability.
Mounted inside the Epiphone Texan's sound hole, the guitar is equipped with a Shadow Sonic Preamp, and an innovative Under-Saddle NanoFlex Pickup. The Shadow electronics allow acoustic players to plug in and project their tones beautifully; as well as providing easy access Volume, High and Low EQ Controls and a Phase Switch. The Phase switch cuts the feedback, without affecting the guitar's tone and the NanoFlex pickup provides a 'truly acoustic' tone by combining both body and string tone for sonically pleasing amplification.
The Epiphone Texan was first introduced into the music scene back in 1958, and ever since it has been favoured and wielded by many of music's greats including Paul McCartney, Peter Frampton and Noel Gallagher. McCartney's 1964 Texan was used to record and perform their hit 'Yesterday', and this Inspired By 1964 Guitar is based on his original model.
