View Full DescriptionTaking the classic platform of the SG into the 21st Century, the body starts as all SG Standards do, with a foundation of solid Mahogany tonewood designed in a distinctive thin asymmetrical dual-cutaway style with iconic pointed 'horns' and bevelled edges, finished in Heritage Cherry with a vintage gloss.
A solid mahogany neck is glued to the body at a comfortable new asymmetrical profile, making the Future Tribute one of the most playable SGs yet. Topped off with a headstock with silkscreened gold Gibson logo design and holly logos.
The warm, rich and responsive tone from Rosewood makes it the perfect fingerboard material. Offering clear and tight bass projection without overshadowing sparkling midrange or trebles, the 24 medium-jumbo frets are adorned with trapezoidal inlays. In keeping with the stripped-down ethos, there is no pickguard and both body and fingerboard remain unbound.
The Heritage Cherry vintage gloss finish gives the Future Tribute an modern appearance still in keeping with SG tradition. The nitrocellulose lacquer produces a finish that breathes with the guitar and enhances natural resonance, encouraging a purer tone.
Ensuring sonic versatility and hot looks are a pair of zebra-coil humbucking pickups, consisting of a standard wound '57 Classic humbucker in the neck position and a slightly over-wound '57 Classic plus in the bridge position for hotter lead tones. Wax potting combats microphonic squeal at high level volumes.
Traditional wiring of an independent volume and tone control per pickup plus a three-way pickup selector provide a broad range of sonic variations. Add to the mix a classic Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece and a set of Steinberger gearless tuners and you have a set of hardware that partners up for solid sustain and precision tuning.
