The MDB4 bass guitar is the third Mike D'Antonio signature from Ibanez, and the first to feature this extreme body shape - perfect for getting noticed on stage. The body is crafted from mahogany for a warm sound with great sustain. A sleek white finish gives the MDB4 a focussed aesthetic that complements the black hardware perfectly and is ideal for modern metal players.
The MDB4's maple neck is crafted in 3 pieces for enhanced strength, giving it greater tuning stability and resonance. The neck features a 305mm radius for a flat and comfortable string-balance, while the medium-thick 21mm-24mm neck fills the comfortably fill the left hand for a confident grip.
The MDB4 has both single-coil and split-coil pickups, letting you blend the ideal sound of bridge-position bite with middle-position punch. The Seymour Duncan SPB-1 middle-position split-coil pickup features alnico 5 magnets and a vintage coil wind for a smooth tone with a powerful mid-focussed thump. The SJB-2 bridge-position pickup is a custom-wound single-coil designed for a hotter output - perfect for rock and metal. The MDB4's blend control lets you blend these two pickups together for the ideal balance of tone, whether that is for low-range riffing, chordal work, or soloing lines.
The MDB4 features a "secret" tone control on the rear of thee guitar, designed to be set to exactly how you like and then forgotten about when performing. The two front-mount controls allow you to adjust volume and pickup balance.
An Accu Cast B200 bridge provides a resonant platform for your strings to sit while allowing full adjustment over action and intonation. This fixed bridge gives optimal transfer of string vibrations to the guitar's body. This is particularly important with the factory-set tuning of drop-C, where low-range riffing and aggressive playing puts a lot of strain on the guitar.
For the past 30 years, Ibanez has been at the forefront of developing the right tools for electric guitar players who push at the boundaries of music and technical ability. Ibanez's designers and luthiers are the embodiment of this ideology, pushing their skills to the edge of imagination by consistently creating some of the most versatile and unique instruments available. While Ibanez guitars have been made since 1908, it wasn't until the late 1980s that Ibanez began to hone its identity when prolific artists such as Steve Vai and Frank Zappa began using their instruments. Now with a huge artist clientele across the globe, Ibanez is a leading manufacturer of electric guitars and basses and a first choice for dedicated musicians.
