The Ibanez RG9QM is designed to cover a huge melodic range, with its 9 strings stretching from 1E to 9C#. This gives you access to unparalleled low-range riffing combined with the convenience of a standard top-end tuning; perfect for modern styles of metal.
To achieve this feat, the RG0QM is crafted from tonally-versatile basswood. The neck is a made from maple and walnut, sandwiched in 5 pieces for enhanced strength, stability and resonance, whilst maintaining a thin profile for easy playability.
The guitar has a jatoba fingerboard which is a dense wood to create low-end articulation for complex riffing and a fast response. If the guitar didn't already stand out enough with its 9 strings, the burled maple top with Black Ice finish helps create a classy aesthetic that will look great under stage lights.
Playing a 9-string guitar requires an unusually long finger reach, so the RG9QM has several playing specifications to help you utilise all 9 strings. The neck has a thin Wizard II-9 profile which is only 21.5mm thick at the 1st fret. The fingerboard is an incredibly flat 950mm giving you complete balance across the strings, while the jumbo frets provide enhanced finger-string contact.
The RG body shape is smoothly contoured and has two extended cutaway horns. When combined with the all-access bolt-on neck joint, these features create un-restricted access to all 24 frets and help you to play the most technically challenging styles of music.
The RG9QM is loaded with Ibanez Quantum pickups. These are passive/ceramic designs that give an accelerated bass response for fast tracking of complex staccato riffs. The pickups have a crushing mid-range and a precise high-end articulation, so you can be guaranteed that your advanced playing techniques will be transmitted with great detail. Whether you're playing fast lead lines, tapped chords and arpeggios, staccato riffs, or complex chords; the Quantum pickups will ensure that every detail is heard.
A fixed bridge gives an inherently more stable platform than a tremolo system, and the Gibralta Standard II-7 is created for this exact purpose. This bridge offers independent adjustments of string action and intonation and gives maximum string resonance transfer to the body.
