The Schecter Jeff Loomis JL-7 has a hugely powerful pickup set and fast playing neck specification to deliver searing metal tones with effortless playability. The swamp ash body lends brightness and clarity to your sound, and is matched to a maple neck for an increase in harmonic overtones and warmth. Schecter has honed this guitar for metal and rock with an instrument that offers clarity, power, and no barriers to your playing technique.
The EMG 57 pickup uses alnico magnets for a PAF quality of tone. It has incredible headroom to provide the punch and articulation necessary for low-range riffing. The EMG 66 neck pickup is voiced for a warm and smooth mid-range that gives a liquid-smooth sound and long sustain for playing solos.
These two pickups are specially paired by EMG to give you the ultimate high-gain sound. They complement the bright swamp ash body by adding clarity and power to your sound. The pickups provide exceptional note clarity in complex chords, alongside a sympathetic lead guitar sound with sustain and mid-range power. They are the ideal combination for all styles of metal guitar playing.
The Jeff Loomis JL-7 has a modern neck specification geared towards fast playing. It has a thin 'C' profile that sits comfortably in the hand and allows easy reach to all 7 strings. The neck is mounted to the body with a set-neck "Ultra Access" design; when combined with the double cutaway body, this joint allows you to easily access the whole length of the fingerboard.
The neck is mounted with 24 extra-jumbo frets to provide excellent control of the strings when playing string bends and vibrato. The frets are fixed with a 16'' radius, giving you the perfect modern feel for effortless playability. The frets are stainless steel which gives you increased durability – they will last a lot longer than traditional materials before showing signs of wear. The steel material also gives them increased brightness and helps the strings resonate more fully.
The Jl-7's body is crafted from swamp ash for a bright tonal response with great sustain. The neck is maple and adds further harmonic overtones and resonance. The satin finish is a light weight method to protect the instrument and lets the guitar 'breath'. This gives it an open resonance that feels more 'alive' in the hands.
The Jeff Loomis JL-7 has a Hipshot fixed bridge with string thru body design for excellent tuning stability and increased string resonance transfer to the body. The JL-7 also has glow-in-the-dark side markers along the neck which are ideal for professional use on dark stages. Every design specification on the JL-7 is chosen for quality tone, high performance feel, and reliable operation; this makes it an excellent-value guitar for the level of performance that it offers.
"The refinements made to the JL-7 result in one of the most satisfying experiences I’ve ever had with a seven-string guitar. The clarity and warmth of the EMG pickups are phenomenal, delivering massive tones with high-gain distortion yet retaining the definition of each individual note in chords. The light body weight, contours, cutaway and neck profile make the JL-7 very comfortable to play. The fretboard provides a familiar string-spacing feel for six-string specialists without being too wide, … The attention to detail in the construction is immaculate, with smoothly rounded edges on the fretboard and frets adding to the JL-7’s comfort and playability and giving it the feel of a handcrafted custom instrument." – Guitar World
