The Edge Pro 5 Bass is loaded with two powerful EMG Soapbar pickups, constructed with ceramic bar magnets to deliver a warm, smooth attack with an incredibly big midrange response. The pickups feature a humbucking design, ensuring players receive a low noise operation with plenty of output. The active circuitry of the Dean 3D preamp allows the bass to produce a higher output tone, as well as offering a powerful 3-band active EQ to tweak and fine tune the bass’ tone. Featuring low, middle, and high frequency controls, the Dean Edge can produce a range of studio ready tones for a variety of genres and playing styles.
The Dean Edge Pro features a lightweight basswood body topped with stunning flamed maple, creating a visually stunning aesthetic which will stand out on any staged. The use of basswood provides the Dean Bass with a fat, balanced tone, while the maple helps add a touch of brightness for an impressive midrange punch. The maple/walnut neck and ebony fingerboard adds an extra layer of warm characteristics, while its incredibly smooth design offers a comfortable playing experience.
Incorporating a neck-thru construction allows the Dean Edge Pro to produce advanced sustain and resonance by optimising the maximum contact between the neck and body joint. This design provides the bass with superior vibration transfer and sustainability, perfect for times when you need notes to ring out for as long as possible.
Unlike most Dean bass guitars, the Edge Pro features a unique brass nut which improves the overall sustain, clarity, and tonal brightness due to its low friction design. While traditional plastic nuts can often dampen the vibrations once it passes over the nut, creating a muffled tone, the low friction nature of brass improves the transfer of vibrations from the strings to the neck. This allows the guitar to ring out for longer, resulting in an enhanced resonance and increasing the overall brightness of the tone.
