The Jet City Custom 22 is a re-designed 20-watt head featuring a preamp design by Martin Kidd, of Cornford and Victory Amps. This amplifier gives you access to the sounds of a highly experienced amp manufacturer, whose amplifier designs have been used by Guthrie Govan, Richie Kotzen, Rob Chapman, Rabbea Massad, Shaun Baxter, Frank Gambale, Dweezil Zapper, and many more. The Custom 22 has two channels with a lower gain crunch channel and high gain overdrive channel for a vast array of sounds; independently adjustable and accessible via the included footswitch - perfect for live performances.
The Jet City is driven by 12AX7 preamp valves for a mid-focussed British-style tone which will cut through the mix. The EL84 power amp valves provide a nuanced response with great touch-sensitivity. The 20 watts of power is a great balance - enough to be heard over a band with real tube saturation at manageable volume levels, yet also ideal for recording, letting you get cranked tones at a sensible volume.
With two channels, the Custom 22 can cover the entire range of overdrive sounds, from clean through to edge-of-breakup, onto full-blown saturation. A 3-band EQ with presence control allows you to sculpt your sound, while the additional voicing switches for brightness and mid-boost/low-fat help you cut through the mix and adapt your tone to exactly how you like it. With Martin Kidd behind the tonal design, you can be guaranteed an incredibly musical response with a huge range of sounds available.
The Custom 22 features multiple speaker outputs, ready to integrate with both single and multiple cabinets. An additional, tube-buffered FX loop lets you integrate you effects pedals with a warm and transparent tone.
Launched in 2009, Jet City Amplification aims to produce amplifiers with fantastic tube tones at highly accessible price-points for the average guitarist. Focussing on quality rather than quantity, Jet City uses premium components with simple and focussed touches to provide usable, rugged devices without any superfluous features. Jet City also produces effects pedals, an attenuator, an isolation cabinet, and various other tools for working musicians. Recent Jet City products feature collaborations with world-renowned amp designers and manufacturers, including Soldano, Martin Kidd (formerly of Cornford and now with Victory Amps), and Friedman. These designs provide users with excellent-value access to real valve tone and iconic preamp sounds.
