Key Features
Born from the ashes of a vintage classic, the Korg Nuvibe Vibrato Chorus Effector Pedal with Expression Pedal gets new life with help from Funio Mieda, the original designer of the Univibe. Unlike the '60s Univibe, the Nuvibe adds functionality to an amazing pedal whilst retaining the 'vintage mojo' that inspired so many artists.
Korg give you ten sliders that you can use to alter the low frequency oscillation (LFO) of the Nuvibe. This means as well as the usual waveforms, you can customise your tone with the sliders, giving you unique pulses and rhythms that weren't possible before. Then, when you add in the expression pedal, you can take full control over the speed of the effect - making it easy to experiment and explore new sounds that would otherwise be unavailable.

Made famous by Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour, and Robin Trower, the Univibe is a part of rock ‘n’ roll history and has a sound that has been forever replicated and cloned but never exacted. Korg brought in the original designer Funio Mieda to not only do it right but exceed expectations. The result is a sensational pedal that never fails to delight.
At its heart, the Nuvibe operates as a "kind of" chorus and tremolo. The difference in settings being that the chorus mixes in the original ‘dry’ signal into the effect whereas the tremolo doesn’t use the dry signal. Unlike modern chorus pedals, there is a lack of a delay chip which is what defines the modern ‘chorus’ sound. The chorus mode is where the soul of the classic Univibe lies. This is the mode that gives the ‘notched phaser’ sound that was adored by so many and when pushed with a fuzz pedal, gives you that huge low end as the modulation starts to pulse.
One of the initial problems with the original was that there was no actual bypass for the pedal which resulted in a muddy signal and a drop in volume which the Nuvibe thankfully corrects. Then there are the 10 sliders that affect the LFO of the modulation - this is a unique feature which opens up the pedal to experimenters and those seeking something new.
