Built with a studio-grade DBX compression circuit, the CP-9 Pro+ offers an incredibly clean gain boost of up +30dB that doesn’t add colour to your tone or create excessive noise. With a variable 1:1 to ∞:1 compression ratio, the pedal can be used with any instrument and for a wide variety of applications. Use as a straight clean booster or volume attenuator, the pedal will clean up any dirty amp by reducing the level of input and allowing the true tone to shine through. An internal voltage doubler provides twice as much power, creating more headroom and full-frequency response.
If it is not possible to connect to a high current jack, you can power the CP-9 Pro+ by leaving a battery in the pedal. Upon initial start-up, unplug the external DC power input cable, engage the pedal, and then plug the DC power input cable back in – the pedal will now power up normally off the external power supply until you power down your pedalboard.
Maxon started out in Japan in 1965 under the name Nisshin Onpa, manufacturing guitar pickups before producing OEM products for other companies. Nisshin Onpa was responsible for designing and manufacturing many legendary pedals while working in partnership with Ibanez, including the TS-808/TS808 and TS9 tube screamers. Although many of the pedals Maxon created were released under the Ibanez name, Maxon was producing pedals under their own name, and in 2002 when the two companies parted way, Maxon began to push its name as a manufacturer of high-quality effects pedals. Today Maxon produce "hard-to-find" vintage type effects pedals, and are used by many artists such as Pearl Jam, Troy Van Leeuwen, Steve Stevens, Brad Whitford, and many more.
