They're ideal for gigging musicians who demand reliability and great tones to cover any performance scenario, providing the fit, feel, and sounds of PRS’s higher-end Core line. Each model is supplied with a premium PRS gig bag to get you on the road with minimal effort.
The S2 series includes the original Custom 24, vintage-style McCarty & McCarty 594, and workhorse Standard models to give you ample choice from their Maryland factory. A more streamlined production process gives you a guitar that’s packed full of tone at a price that’s more than enticing.
And at Gear4music, each of these S2 models is backed by our comprehensive three-year warranty, in addition to a fast delivery service to get you playing as soon as possible.
PRS S2 guitars are a relative newcomer relative newcomer to the extensive PRS lineup. Formed in 2013, the S2 models effectively bridge the gap between the entry-level SE series and the top-end Core series, providing an ideal ‘sweet spot’ for those seeking authentic PRS feel and tone.
Standing for “Stevensville Line 2”, S2 guitars are made in the same factory as the vaunted PRS Core models, benefiting from the exceptional skill and attention to detail that’s poured into PRS’s flagship product.
In addition to their exemplary build quality, S2 guitars feature the same neck profiles (Pattern Regular, Pattern Thin, Pattern Vintage), scale lengths, and fretboard radius as their Core counterparts. Likewise, the wood used in their construction is sourced from the same quality stocks and is finished with a nitrocellulose coating to maximise resonance.
To keep costs down, the eponymous Stevensville Line 2 uses more mass-production methods to get a guitar that’s outstanding in value, but no less playable. Those include thinner and less figured bodies, slimmer maple veneers (or none), imported electronics, and multi-piece necks to speed up the assembly process.
The result is a stripped back instrument that has all the essentials: Inspiring tones, exceptional reliability from PRS-made hardware, and a stunning visual flair. It makes them the ideal tool for working musicians, providing the stellar PRS USA character and clarity, without any unnecessary expense.
“S2” in PRS guitars stands for “Stevensville 2” and refers to their separate production line in the home Maryland, USA factory. It recognises that these guitars are made in the same place as the legendary Core line and promise the same level of craftsmanship and sound quality.
PRS S2 Guitars were launched in 2013. Since then, the range has expanded to include Custom 24, McCarty, and Standard models to satisfy the needs of any musician. Packed with both versatility and value, they’ve become a top choice for working performers and tourers.
PRS S2 guitars use two styles of nitro finishes. The Custom 24 and McCarty models feature a high gloss nitrocellulose finish, while the Standard models use a thinner satin nitro coating.
